That log with her and Zuko seemed to come out of nowhere, and it's quite side-eye worthy. I'm wondering if there has been IC development towards this, and if so, links?

basically, this translates as "i didn't follow any development of these characters but now something's happened that i feel is ooc, despite not following the characters! provide all the links to me, proving it's not coming out of nowhere, since i was too lazy/didn't care enough to follow the characters, until there was wank."

see, i was waiting for this to happen. yes: there has been IC development toward this, which i'm automatically assuming you haven't bothered to ever read in the past. just because this particular log was warned with something that a lot of people are uncomfortable with, all of a sudden everyone is interested. i've had the same critique before with another relationship azula has in-game, with someone also demanding i give links to defend myself despite not having any interest in the cr prior.

however, i do realize why people would find this very "side-eye worthy" and i would be happy to explain myself. zuko and azula have been in-game together for over a year where they have struggled to get along, and they have. azula has had to deal with being rejected from her father and everyone else around her while zuko has always been consistent in attempting to keep her happy (both for his benefit and everyone elses) mainly because he doesn't think she's an actual bad person. this has taken a long time to occur, but it's there. they both have a very strong, positive relationship with each other now (or as much as one can when you're befriending azula).

we've discussed a lot of backstory and some events together with a few others-- events that are not in-game but i guess more handwaved, so a few things you will not be able to find and i'm sorry about that. however, this stems a lot from their canon history as siblings and the disjointed relationship they had. it's just one interpretation of the canon we were given, they never had the relationship of true siblings since they were often pitted against one another or separated. this enabled them to not noticeably cross a line, though it's definitely there and they are aware of the mistake they are making, because their relationship was never typical to begin with. and this development, the actual incest aspect of it, has been slowly coming to play within the last few months. it was a gradual shift and not an abrupt one, because that for anyone is suspicious.

i would be happy to answer anymore questions you may have if my brief summary wasn't enough to appease your curiosity.

Nah, that's fine for me. I'd seen that they had gotten closer, but had interpreted that as them growing into their sibling relationship without the whole Ozai and Fire Nation thing pitting them against each other. That's why I was surprised since I've never thought about them from that POV, but hey, all sorts of interps. Thanks for explaining.

the majority of development is in-game, there's only a few things handwaved just recently due to the conflicting schedules of myself and the zuko-mun. we ran the idea with another castmate, and decided this was a thing that no one else would be forced to deal with. we tried to be as considerate as possible while still having our own fun within the game. if we decided that the entire cast and game would have to deal with the ship then i can understand why people would be upset, but since we are not forcing anyone to be involved with the situation then we didn't see it as too much of an issue.
