      ☑ HOW'S MY DRIVING MEME

All of us have those moments where we are uncertain about our characterization. Sometimes feedback is the best medicine! So, step on up and post your roleplay accounts and the games you have them in. Let others come by and tell you how you're doing and let others know what you think! Give legitimate reasons and not just "I love you!" Save that for our monthly love memes.

» Anon is enabled but do not abuse it!
     » Don't circlejerk.
» Flaming will not be tolerated, play nicely!
     » Remember to give critique

If there are any problems, please report them HERE and we will take care of it as soon as we can.

!PLEASE READ: There have been instances of anon bullying & threats in both the HMD and Love memes, so we wanted to stress how important it is that you bring this to us if it happens. Don't ignore something just because you think it's "too small" to bring to us.

Also, please be considerate of the players browsing this meme! Try to limit the amount of graphics and sparkle texts you use while commenting to others!

I have been meaning to tag Riley! I'm a little behind this week and still have to tag all of the new posts that have gone up, so I'll be sure to send Anita her way! She's from after the events of The Killing Dance, before Burnt Offerings takes place.

Oh, that's a perfect place to take her from. I think you did a wonderful job on choosing your PB as well. Very Anita. =)

I don't believe I'll be going anywhere any time soon. Take your time and tag at your own pace. I'm more than happy to backtag.

Thank you very much! It took me years to find a PB I felt fit her but using the comic art was limiting because of the availability of quality scans and there not being a whole lot of range in some of them (although I love the art, it's very pretty).

I may have chosen that canon point specifically so I could play with having vampire marks but not be saddled with ardeur. >.> Also I feel there are a lot of opportunities for character development around them that get overlooked. It's so nice to meet someone else that knows the series!

I understand. She has a very specific look and trying to find the right person to fit it must have been hard. The comics are wonderful, but you're right, it's very hard to find any variety in them since it's not a well known and popular series.

I do not blame you. Part of my problem with the more recent books is that I feel as though Anita's been reduced to being an overpowered sex bunny. I loved when she was still a bounty hunter/marshal and there were still story lines that involved her animation work as well as her personal (and overly personal) interaction with the supernatural community.

Sorry, tl;dr. I really do enjoy it and I almost wish I'd stopped reading after Obsidian Butterfly.

Hey, I welcome this TL;DR, it mirrors my thoughts about the series exactly. Obsidian Butterfly is actually my favorite in the series and pretty much where the series ends for me, I can't get invested in it after that because I'm too irritated with what it's become. I'm actually canon-updating her to the end of OB in Ruby City at the end of the month but I don't think I could ever play her from further than that.

But especially the first few books in the series, I love. I miss the gritty crime-drama feel they had.

For a long while, I actually didn't even know it was more than three books. A friend had the first three books in one condensed novel and I thought that was that. Five years later, I find out there was more and I was ecstatic.

I was happy to continue reading, but NiC is where I started to get a bad taste in my mouth in terms of where LKH seemed to be heading. I loved some of the new characters, like Micah, but the direction of the storyline just seemed to digress into something that was so completely different from how it originally started, I don't feel as though it's really the same series anymore. She's not a marshal, she's not an animator; she's a human succubus that has far too much powers that don't really make a lot of sense.

I get the sensation you mean. It was what made it interesting was that there was an actually intriguing mystery or story for the book that I felt invested in finding out. Now? I can't even keep up with who's doing what or how. I've lost interest, but I would always reread the first books.
